It's been fun! | August 18, 2009 | by David Vogel

With the Teenie Beanie promotion now complete, it is with a little bit of saddness that I must say "goodbye." Doing this blog has been a great experience, and I have really enjoyed hearing from old Beanie friends, as well as meeting some new ones.

In the next few days I will be closing peacemania.com. This means that this Teenie Beanie blog will also no longer be available. So please feel free to "take" anything off of this website if you like: text, images, etc. I know some people have also been collecting the "Beanie of the Day" images, which I failed to continue to update. If you'd like all of the "Beanie of the Day" images, CLICK HERE.

This Teenie Beanie promotion has been a lot of fun. I think for many collectors it brought back that "old sentimental feeling." I know it did for me.And I hope that this promotion--and maybe even this blog--helped to spark a little bit of an interest in Ty.

But for now, I am retiring, for good, as the webmaster of Peace Mania. Happy collecting!

This is the David Vogel, signing off.

Snootz and the Teenies | July 26, 2009 | by David Vogel

A new video on the Ty.com website features Snootze orienting the Teenie Beanies to Beanie Land.

Another Teenie-oriented Ask Ty | July 24, 2009 | by David Vogel

Looks as if Ty himself has been visiting a few McDonald's over the last week:
Q: Do you go to McDonalds and purchase Happy Meals to get the Teenie Beanies?
A: I try to go to a different McDonalds every day to see which Teenie Beanie I will get!

How's your Teenie progress? | July 23, 2009 | by David Vogel

It's only been a week, but I finished up my collection of all 30 Teenie Beanies today. It was a good thing, too, because the McDonald's employees were starting to recognize me. Haha! I got ahold of Grimace, Rascal, and Fluffball, which were the three I still needed.

It seems like most McDonald's have been offering all the Teenies at once, judging from all of the collector reports of finished or nearly finished sets. Despite this, I will continue to update the "Today's Teenie" graphic at the top right corner of this page. It was brought to my attention that some people have been "collecting" the images, so when I failed to post Jumps the other, I put a hole in their collection. If you would like the Jumps graphic, please email me and I'd be happy to email it to you!

How's your collection of the Teenies going? Email your stories to me; I'd love to share them!

A collector's photos | July 22, 2009 | by David Vogel

Special thanks to Xavier for sharing some very interested photos of his Teenie Beanie collection, including the 2009 Teenies. Xavier writes:

Hello Doodlespage and Peace Bear sites David,
Just thought your viewers would like to see how I displayed my McDs Teenies this month!! I enjoyed the hunt and was able to complete my collection for this months Teenies today. Have a great day!!

Stories from the hunt, so far | July 20, 2009 | by David Vogel

A big thanks to the collectors who have been writing in to share about their experiences! Nancy writes:

Just thought I'd let you know how the teenie search turned out in the McDonalds that are in my immediate neighborhood.
Here they are distributing them in the series numbered as the display boxes and Happy Meal boxes have them numbered. In other words, 2 locations had the #s 1 thru 4 (Clipper, Maiden, Boomer and Ronald McDonald) and one location had the #s 1-7 and #19 ??? (Fable) in the series available. I only bought the Ronald clowns but will be looking for the bears (Celebration, Ming,Streamers, and Thirty) for myself and a couple of beanie friends. I did get the Happy Meal boxes included at the second location in the purchase of the Ronald teenies (which has the pictures and numbers on this series).
I asked the closest location to me when the next batch would come in and the clerk told me the truck comes in on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So I will be stopping in at least twice a week to purchase the bears in this release; no food purchase was necessary to purchase the teenies.

And Evan shares this humorous story:

I thought I'd drop by and share my teenie story (at least so far). I'm late with emailing this because my family and I have been out of town in Missouri for the past 4 days, and was there when the party began. On Friday morning, after eating my continental breakfast at the hotel, I went to the nearest McDonald's so I could snag Clipper the Dolphin right away, since I'd be busy the rest of the day. When I got there, I saw a nice decal on the door showing the teenies and thereupon got excited. I then went to the counter and asked which beanie babies they had. The woman there seemed confused at first, so I repeated the question. She then looked and pulled out the first three teenies, one of which was Clipper, my target. She said that they had "this red thing (Maiden), this blue thing (Clipper), and the dog (Boomer)". I then ordered two Clippers (my mom wanted one too), and so officially began my hunt. Upon returning to the hotel (before departing again very soon), I told my mom the rest of the teenies they had and she wished she got a Maident too; so the next morning, before we all left, I went back to the Mickey-D's and asked if they still had the ladybug. It was the same woman, and she was confused once again, this time saying "What's a ladybug?" So I asked for the red beanie baby, she pulled out a Maiden, and said "You mean this thing?" I said yes and got it.
As of now, I have also acquired Jumps and Woolsy, and have registered them with Clipper at ty.com. I must say that I am excited to be on the hunt again, after searching for all of last summer's Star Wars toys; however, this is the first time I have hunted teenies, since I was too young to when the other ones were around, and instead got the Happy Meal with a random teenie, resulting in incomplete collections. This year too will be incomplete, since I do not intend on getting them all, but tracking down the ones I want will still be fun, with me calling local Mickey-D's every day, asking the enjoyable question: "Which beanie babies do you have today?"

Yesterday I was able to track down Ronald and Jumps, which fills in a whole I had in my checklist because the previous McDonald's I went to was welling Teenies out of order. Now I'm up to 20 out of 30. Where does your collection stand so far? I'd love to keep hearing about your Teenie experiences!

My Teenie Beanie experience, so far | July 19, 2009 | by David Vogel

After the first two days of the Teenie Beanie Baby promotion, I have my collection of all 30 Teenies over half completed. On Friday I was able to snag Clipper, Maiden, and Boomer. I asked the woman behind the counter when they would be releasing the next Teenies, and she said she didn't know. So just in case, I went on Saturday, and--surprise!--was able to buy Woolsy, Quackly, Aussie, Streamers, Fez, Pico, Thirty, Chill, Radish, Yammy, Spurs, Cargo, Frostiness, Oasis, and Celebration. When they laid all of these on the counter and I said I'd buy them all, the guy looked at me and said, "That's insanity!" I just had to laugh.

I did find this selection of Teenies a little odd. There were gaps in between the Teenies I could buy in comparison to the numbered list. For example, they didn't have Ronald or Jumps, but I could get Woolsy. This McDonald's isn't in a highly populated area, so I doubt they would have sold out.

But confusion seems to be a bit of a trend, as various reports from collectors (read almost any Beanie Baby news site) are saying different things about how McDonalds' are releasing the Teenies. Some people have already been able to buy all 30. Most, however, seem to be going by the threes (Clipper-Maiden-Boomer, Ronald-Jumps-Woolsy, etc.). So it's hard to know what to expect from McDonald's to McDonalds, although I must admit this does add to the excitement of the hunt.

One thing that does seem to be consistent is that collectors aren't required to buy any food in order to purchase a Teenie Beanie. I, for example, walked out of the McDonald's on Saturday with 15 Teenies, and no food. This does make collecting them a bit more affordable, not to mention a bit more healthy.

I expect that many collectors, like me, will be able to easily complete our collections within the next few days. I have to admit, it's fun to walk into McDonald's and say "Which Teenies do you have?"

'Good Morning America' video | July 19, 2009 | by David Vogel

A clip of ABC's "Good Morning America" feature on the Happy Meal is now available to view on YouTube.com. Teenie Beanie Babies are even mentioned! You can watch the video by clicking here.

Snootz meets the Teenie Beanies | July 18, 2009 | by David Vogel

The latest Snootz video was posted yesterday on the Ty website. Snootz finally meets the Teenie Beanie Babies, and joins in on the party.

Teenie Beanie News articles | July 17, 2009 | by David Vogel

As I find new news articles about the Teenie Beanies, I will be updating this list. Here's what we've got so far:

Ty Teenie Beanie Babies are Back
Ty, McDonald's in Beanie Land Promo
Happy 30th Birthday, Happy Meal!

Stories of the hunt | July 17, 2009 | by David Vogel

Christopher emailed me about his experience searching for Teenies today:

Oh boy the exciement is back!! I drove to McDonald this morning and I was able to get the #2 Maiden and #3 Boomer and I was like where is #1 Clipper the dolphins and they were already out and I had to drive to second McDonald and I was exciting to hunt to find more and lo behold and I got the #1 Clipper and didn't have to buy with Happy Meal so I got them for $2.11. So I got home and I immediately register on ty.com for the party and it is very interesting to see. I'm looking forward to get the other styles soon. I might keep looking everyday you never know which styles might sell out fast just like the Clipper the dolphins.

If you have a story to share, email me!

Good Morning America's feature | July 17, 2009 | by David Vogel

Unfortunately, I missed the Good Morning America show this morning, so I didn't get to see their feature on the Happy Meal. However, there is an article on the ABC News website:
The most popular Happy Meal toy ever was when McDonald's gave out more than 100 million Teenie Beanie Babies. The giveaway of 100 million of the little creatures, which began in April 1997, ignited a national craze for the stuffed animals. Read more.

McDonald's websites now updated | July 17, 2009 | by David Vogel

The Happy Meal site is now infested with Teenie Beanies (click on "Toys"). Among the features on the Happy Meal site are the Teenie Beanie TV commercial, a downloadable Teenie Beanie checklist, screensaver, two Happy Meal coloring pages, Teenie Beanie IM icons, and a desktop wallpaper. Plus, you can still scroll through the entire set of Teenies by clicking "View Toys."

The mcdepk.com site features a Flash display where you can download fact shets about the Happy Meal 30th Birthday, view the "happiest cities for families in America," view the current Happy Meal toys, and download hi-res photos of each. (Only 18 Teenies photos are currently listed, BUT the PDF Teenie Fact Sheet lists all 30. Perhaps the 18 are the Teenies for the remainder of July.)

Today is sure to be exciting as everyone gets their hands on the first Teenie. Happy collecting!

Let the party begin! | July 17, 2009 | by David Vogel

At long last, today is the day that Teenie Beanie Babies return to McDonald's Happy Meals after a 5-year absence! Some of that "old familiar feeling" has returned for me, as I'm anxiously awaiting clocking out from work and heading to the nearest McDonald's this afternoon. Online updates began to occur early this morning, and I'm sure as the day progresses, we'll see more!

With the chiming of midnight this morning, the countdown on the Ty page read "0 Days" for just a couple minutes before changing to a new graphic that directs users to register their Teenies. (Both images are seen above). Once a user clicks "Go," the user will be sent to the same page where any Beanie Baby 2.0 secret code can be entered.

A new video on the Ty.com homepage features Snootz explaining how to use the secret code inside the hangtag of each Teenie Beanie Baby.

Additionally, the new Ask Ty question was posted yesterday:

Q: What are the 30 new Teenie Beanies all about?
A: Log in at www.ty.com tomorrow with your new Teenie Beanie Baby and you will find out!

Despite Ty.com's speedy updates, the McDonald's websites had not changed from the Ice Age materials as of the writing of this blog (which is taking place in the wee hours of the morning).

And, as expected, more in-hand photos are already appearing in eBay auctions. I'm assuming that new photos will be appearing quite rapidly, so I am no longer going to update each time new auctions are listed. Instead, click here to see all of the 2009 Teenie Beanie listings.

The days to come should be exciting and fun, as collectors once again get to experience "the hunt." If you have any comments, stories, or pictures of the Teenie experiences, be sure to drop me a line. Happy collecting!

But wait, there's more | July 16, 2009 | by David Vogel

On the eve of the 2009 Teenie Beanie Baby Happy Meal promotion, two more auctions on eBay are offering in-hand photos of the Teenies.

Click here to visit the auction which features two photos; one of all 30 Teenies in bag, and one of the Teenies in the Happy Meal display.

Click here to see the auction for five Celebration bears, which features a close up of Celebration (photo on right.)

Keep an eye on the television | July 16, 2009 | by David Vogel

While I'm sure a TV commercial for the Teenie-infested Happy Meals will be appearing either today or tomorrow, a post by "bneebob" on the Ty Talk message boards gives this tip:

If you get the chance, check out Good Morning America on Friday.

Another in-hand photo | July 16, 2009 | by David Vogel

Yet another in-hand photo of the Teenies has appeared in a new eBay auction. The picture is of all 30 Teenies, sealed in bags. Click here to see the auction.

'Do the Teenie Beanies work here too?' | July 16, 2009 | by David Vogel

A blurb was recently posted at the bottom of the Ty.com website:

Do the Teenie Beanies work here too?
Ty is proud to announce the return of the most popular Happy Meal promotion in McDonald's history - Ty Teenie Beanies! For a limited time, McDonald's Happy Meal customers can collect and use their secret code to play with versions of their favorite Beanie Babies 2.0 characters in both happymeal.com and here at ty.com.

It'll be interesting to see how the Teenis are incorporated into both McLand and Beanie Land.

Teenies start tomorrow!

A lot more in-hand photos | July 15, 2009 | by David Vogel

As we draw nearer to the release of the Teenie Beanies, more in-hand photographs of the Teenies are appearing on eBay!

One auction, for example, shows a photograph of all 30 Teenie Beanies in the plastic packages. Click here to visit the auction and view the photo.

Even more exciting, another auction features a slideshow of photographs. The photos of this auction feature close-ups of many of the Teenies (including Ronald at left) sitting on what appears to be the display that will be in the Happy Meal display case. Click here to visit this auction and view the photos.

Two days and counting! Excited yet?

Readers talk back | July 14, 2009 | by David Vogel

My report yesterday saying that there will be 6 Teenies that are exclusive to Canada has gotten quite a bit of attention. It seems like many collectors are either upset or confused about why or how this would be done. One reader wrote:

I have been following your 2009 teenie site for about a week and today, I saw you post that 6 teenies are exclusive to Canada, with the remaining 24 the only ones for the USA. I am warning you that this might not entirely be official for a couple of reasons. One is that the person at McDonalds might have skewed the information a bit, and maybe these 6 are the only ones appearing in Canada, with all 30 still appearing in the USA. Second, there have been official posters showing all 30 teenies, numbered 1-30; even the website shows them all in one group. Now why would McDonalds show all 30 if only 24 are going to be here? All I'm saying is that this is likely not entirely true, and hopefully you won't going around saying it is and making collectors feeling uneasy, like I did at first.

I must admit, I also found this report to be surprising. It sort of brings back the feeling of the "old days," when collectors couldn't be sure which news was true, but it was all exciting anyway. Granted, we will know what is really going to happen very soon. Teenies in t-minus 3 days!

What do you think? Email me to share your opinnion.

Canadian exclusives | July 13, 2009 | by David Vogel

Special thanks to Cindy from Cindy's Beans for sharing this information:

Hi David,
Just spoke with McDonalds Corporate office and I learned the following information. 24 of the 2009 Teenie Beanies are USA. The following 6 are exclusively for Canadian McD Franchises:
-CELEBRATION
-POPS
-QUACKLY
-RADISH
-SKUNKERS
-YAMMY

This is an interesting twist that I hadn't seen coming! However, it does add a little more adventure to the hunt. Could this possibly leave room for the three "top secret" Teenies that have been rumored? As always, Tyme will tell.

A big day for Teenie news | July 12, 2009 | by David Vogel

Things are sure starting to get exciting! A new eBay auction (click here) now has two group photos of the entire set of 30 Teenie Beanies! The Teenies appear to be very nice quality, and quite a colorful crew. With the 17th getting nearer, I expect we're going to start seeing more "leaked" in-hand Teenie photos.

AND, a new Snootz video on the Ty website "reports" on "itty bitty Beanies" in Beanie Land! Hm... Sounds like Snootz is about to meet this year's Teenie Beanie Babies!

Five days and counting.

Photo of promo material | July 11, 2009 | by David Vogel

A new eBay auction for a presale set of all 30 Teenies shows a photograph of a poster-like object that McDonalds' will probably be using as promotional materials. Click here to see the auction and photo.

Now it's official! | July 11, 2009 | by David Vogel

The Happy Meal website now has photos of all 30 of the Teenie Beanies! (Click on "Toys" and then click on the Teenie Beanie banner on the right side.) The Teenie Page is interactive, and begins with the group photo seen above. You can then scroll through to see individual photos of each Teenie Beanie, as well as an animated look at the tags.

I, for one, am VERY excited as we are now less than a week away from the beginning of the promotion. These Teenies look to be of very high quality, with details going right down to the stitched twinkle in each eye.

I am still predicting that one Teenie will be released every day. The order that the Teenies are in this interactive web page is the same order that is listed on the images that have been appearing on eBay auctions. Therefore, my hypothesis is that this is the order in which the Teenies will be released.

Six days and counting!

Another Ask Ty | July 11, 2009 | by David Vogel

This week's Ask Ty question is once again about the Teenies:

Q: What party are you having with the 30 new Teenies Beanies on July 17?
A: We're having the world's biggest birthday party and everyone is invited!

And, the question in the lead for the next Ask Ty is "What are the 30 new Teenie Beanies all about?" Teenie news is beginning to pick up!

A clearer image surfaces | July 9, 2009 | by David Vogel

Greetings from Minneapolis, MN! I did my singing this morning for the opening plenary session at the Lions Club International Convention. I feel much less stressed now, I must say. Haha. I will be returing home early Friday morning. Like I've said, feel free to still send me emails. Ok, so back to business:

I came across a NEW eBay auction for a presale set of all 30 Teenies. While the image isn't any bigger than the photo I posted several days ago, it is much clearer. Click here to see the auction!

Less than 10 more days until the party starts. Are you ready? :)

My 'historic relics' | July 4, 2009 | by David Vogel

Yesterday I shared some photos from Doodle's Page of past Teenie Beanie memorabilia. Today I thought I'd share some photos with you from my own collection. I got these items (for free, even!) from the manager at my local McDonald's in 2004 after the Teenie promotion ended. (Sadly, that franchise has since closed.)

All I did was ask what they did with the promotional materials for Happy Meals, and he said that they always just everything away. For any collectors who like this kind of stuff, I would suggest talking to the manager at your McDonald's this year and see if you can have their promotional materials once the Teenie Beanies are over. It's a lot of fun to have "historic relics."

I hope you enjoy these photos!

Another great ad | July 4, 2009 | by David Vogel

Special thanks to Simple Bookkeeping for Beanbag Collectors for placing an ad on this website!

After yesterday | July 2, 2009 | by David Vogel

I was very surprised yesterday to find an eBay auction listing with the complete list of this year's Teenie Beanies. (Remember, you saw it here first!) I had been waiting for a full list to finally surface, and was very pleased to see that the list also had an image (although grainy) to go with it. I'm guessing it'll be any day now before better images begin to surface.

Now we have some of the original questions answered. For example, it is finally confirmed that Boomer the dog and Frostiness the polar bear (both BB2.0) will be part of this promotion. The image also shows that Pops the gorilla will not be sporting the "#1 Dad" image on his belly.

As for the two bears that remained unidentified, the (lime) green bear is Thirty, and the confetti-covered bear is Streamers. Both, I'm assuming, are specially designed Teenie Beanies that don't/won't have Beanie Baby 2.0 counterparts. It should also be pointed that that the brown bear with the birthday hat (whom I had previously identified as Happy Birthday the Beanie Baby) is Celebration.

Also, we finally know the names of the McWorld characters. We already knew the universal Ronald McDonald and Grimace characters, but joining them are Fez the purple monkey, Radish the red dog, and Yammy the orange cat.

And since this list was numbered, but not in alphabetical order, I think that it's very plausible that this is the order that the Teenies will be released, one per day. (For those of us who don't have a McDonald's nearby, it's going to be a lot of driving!)

However, there are still some questions that remain unanswered. First of all, what about Bo? And second, there was no mention of the three "surprise" Teenies that have been rumored. I still think it's very possible that we will be seeing red, white, and blue Bos as the three "top secret" Teenies. But perhaps Bo being part of the Teenie promotion is only a rumor, and we will be seeing three Teenies that no one had even thought about! Tyme will tell.

We're only about two weeks away from the beginning of this year's Teenie Beanie Baby promotion. I'm sure that as we draw nearer to the event, more of these things will become cleared up.

Still filling the faces | June 30, 2009 | by David Vogel

Christopher emailed me suggesting that the mystery face on the bottom right corner of my Unofficial Teenie Chart (June 23) is a polar bear. The only current polar bear Beanie is Frostiness the Beanie Baby. There are no Beanie 2.0 polar bears.

While I do remain a bit skeptical (the white face on the image appears to lack ears) I think it's plausible that Frostiness could very well be one of the Teenies.

In fact, the list on the Cindy Beans website includes Frostiness. As always Tyme will tell. And that time is getting closer and closer!

Thank you, Christopher, for your input!

20 days and counting! | June 27, 2009 | by David Vogel

Only 20 more days until the Teenie Beanie Babies 2.0 hit McDonald's! As always, if you'd like to share anything, feel free to email me.

Filling in the gaps | June 27, 2009 | by David Vogel

Vicky sent me an email today with some thoughts on a few of the questions marks on my Teenie chart (see June 23):

Dear David:
I think can identify two of the question marks you have on your Unofficial Teenie Chart.
The question mark beside Ming panda is Shearsly the lamb (BB 2.0).
The question mark under Jumps frog is Boomer the dog (BB 2.0).
These are just my guesses, but Cindy Beans had these 2 on her list.

Thanks for your message, Vicky!

Although I had read the list on Cindy's website, I was hesistant to list Shearsly and Boomer on my chart, mainly because the two "unnamed" Teenies don't look a lot like Shearsly and Boomer. However, I would never rule out the possibility that Ty would throw us a few surprises by making some appearance modifications. As always, Tyme will tell!

Ty talks Teenies | June 27, 2009 | by David Vogel

To state the obvious: The answer to the latest Ask Ty question is a little plug for the Teenies:
Q: Do you like to put all your 2.0 Beanies into one room for a party? (submitted by 8885207)
A: Yes I do, and the big party starts on July 17th! Hope to see you there!

Doggone it: Bo or no Bo? | June 26, 2009 | by David Vogel

Will collectors be seeing a Teenie Beanie Baby Bo? The Rumor Mill is grinding, but it's the smaller details that are making this question a little more difficult to answer.

It’s no secret that the Bo Beanie Baby 2.0 (released mid-May) is a hit. The 2.0 Bo was an instant success, and sold out quickly in many stores, as reported in this MSNBC article from May. Why? Although this plush isn’t specifically said to be President Obama’s family’s dog, the fact is that a Ty website video (screen cap at right) advertises Bo as a Portuguese water dog and “the First Dog,” which is about as far as one can go without actually saying “This is President Obama’s dog!” Basically, collectors are just to assume that the Beanie Bo is a plush replica of the White House Bo, as such a coincidental lookalike is not likely.

The Bo Beanie 2.0 was soon followed by a Ty Classic version, and three mini key clip versions. But will that be all? It would only seem logical that Ty would capitalize on this Beanie success. Rumor has it that another Mini Bo will be appearing in McDonald’s Happy Meals as part of the Ty promotion, which begins next month. This information is unconfirmed, if not actually slightly confusing.

Although reports have been circulating that Bo will be part of the Teenie Beanie promotion, how he will be appearing is the interesting part. One online Beanie Baby store is listing Bo as one of the 30 Teenie Beanies. While other Teenie lists do not include Bo in the 30 Teenies. (The list posted on this site on June 22, for example, does not list Bo.) Personally, I am inclined to believe that Bo will not be part of the 30 Teenies, as the preview on the Ty website gives a peek at 30 Teenies, and Bo is definitely not one of them. (See the graphic I posted on June 24.)

BUT, this is not to say that Bo will not be part of the Happy Meal promotion. There are also rumors that there will be three “surprise” or “top secret” Teenie Beanies that are not included with the lot of original 30. (If you’re like me, you’re thinking that July is going to be a very expensive month.) So could Bo possibly be one of those surprise Teenies? Or, could Bo even be all three of the surprise Teenies; a red, white, and blue version?

As the old saying goes, Tyme will tell. But it’s something to look forward to, and think about, and even get excited about. A little like the Glory Days. What do you think? I’d love to hear from you! Send me an email if you’d like to voice your opinion.

Giving a better view | June 24, 2009 | by David Vogel

The preview of the Teenie Beanie Babies on the Ty website "Wilsonized" the Teenies. (Wilson was the character on the television sitcom "Home Improvement," and was known for rarely showing any of his face below his eyes.) Only a small portion of each Teenie is shown in the preview.

Because I am a very visual person, I decided to make a chart that connects each Teenie with a photo of its Beanie Baby or 2.0 counterpart from the Ty website. I also found images of the McLand characters that match up with their Teenies.

Below is the chart I made. Click on it for a bigger, easier to follow, version.

'That's not my name' | June 24, 2009 | by David Vogel

I was reminded of the recent single by The Ting Tings, "That's Not My Name" when I discovered that Fluffball is a hamster, not a guinea pig. Several Beanie news sites have listed the upcoming Fluffball Teenie as a guinea pig, but the Ty website says hamster. The list that I posted on June 22 has been updated accordingly.

Out of the box | June 23, 2009 | by David Vogel

I bought a Happy Meal yesterday specifically to see the bottom of the box. (The last Happy Meal I bought was a year ago in a Switzerland McDonalds, mainly because it was one of the cheapest things on the menu. haha)

As I had guessed, there was an image on the bottom advertising the next Happy Meal promotion: Ty. Click on the image at right to see the full photo.

And the Teenies are... | June 22, 2009 | by David Vogel

It's still early in the game, but more information is already becoming available about the impending release of this year's Teenie Beanies! Online Beanie stores are already offering preorder sets of the Teenies, and lists of names have already begun to circulate.

In addition to the 30 Teenies set to be sold in the Happy Meals, there are also allegedly three "surprise" Teenies. Although lists vary slightly, below is the supposed lineup of Teenies.

The excitement begins... Again | June 21, 2009 | by David Vogel

It's been 12 years since all the excitement began. What first appeared in a frenzy is once again appearing in a sort-of slump. Of course, I am talking about the McDonald's Teenie Beanie Baby promotions. We've come quite a ways since the days of Beanie Bonanza. Collectors have faded away. Fan sites have ceased to exist. And--worst of all--the collectors that have hung on are beginning to wonder 'why?'.

But then again, maybe we have a bit to look forward to again. Thus, this fan site/news source/blog. I was planning to shut town my website Peace Mania earlier this month, but with the news of new Teenie Beanies, I thought maybe I could go out with a little more "bang."

I, too, was among those standing in line for a Teenie Beanie back in 1997, and I still have my very first (Speedy the turtle) to prove it. The news of a new McDonald's and Ty promotion sent a little adrenaline rush through me, and a little of that "old familiar feeling" came over me.

Perhaps this Teenie Beanie promotion is what Ty needs to rekindle its relationship with collectors. And perhaps this is what collectors need to rekindle the Excitement of the Hunt. I, for one, am excited at the very limited information that has been released so far. On this page, I will be exploring some thoughts and sharing my opinions (and updating news when it becomes available) about this Teenie Beanie promotion, set to begin July 17.

Your thoughts and feelings are more than welcome as we approach the first Teenie Happy Meals since 2004. I hope you'll keep checking back. I have a feeling it's going to be an interesting ride!

OK, so here's what we know so far. McDonald's is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its Happy Meal. McDonald's and Ty did a similar promotion in 2004 for the 25th Happy Meal promotion. But it appears that instead of the Teenie Beanies being bears representing McDonald's characters (i.e. Hamburgler) and foods (i.e. Shake), this Teenie promotion is going to consist of (at least in part) miniature versions of existing Ty products.

In all honesty, I have not been keeping track of the Beanie Babies 2.0 line, but from what I can tell, most of these Teenie Beanies that we have seen previews of will be small Beanies 2.0.

However, it also seems that there will be some McDonald's paraphernalia worked into the mix with a Ronald McDonald and at least a couple other characters, which I presume are from McWorld. (McWorld is an online "world" where kids can log on using codes on Happy Meal toys. I plan to explore it at a later date.)

Like I said earlier, sign up for my mailing list and keep checking back often as I continue to explore this latest McDonald's Teenie Beanie Babies promotion!
